Christian music artists gathered at the White House last week for a historic worship session.

Tauren Wells, Jenn Johnson, We Are Messengers and Danny Gokey were among the Christian singers to take part in the 'Faith Briefing' meeting.

The Faith Briefing was hosted by the White House to update the Christian leaders on some of the faith-based projects that the Trump administration has initiated, although the US president did not appear to be in attendance.

Wells posted footage of the meeting to his Twitter page where the worship leaders could be heard singing the popular song 'What a Beautiful Name' by Hillsong.

In his post, Wells said it was a 'privilege to declare the name of Jesus in worship and in prayer today at the White House'.

Johnson also shared a clip from the meeting to her Instagram page and in her caption, described how moved she had been by the experience, saying 'yesterday shook me'.

She said she had come into the meeting with 'no agenda but to love and pray' and was 'overcome to tears' by a deep conviction to pray more for the president and those in his administration.

An Instagram post by Bethel Music's director of events, Dominic Shahbon, suggested the meeting was organised by Paula White.

The megachurch pastor is close friends with Trump. She said a prayer at his 2017 inauguration and is chair of his administration's evangelical advisory board.
