Almost all serial television shows have rested for the winter, with "Castle" season 8 having been on break for almost a month now. While it's still a month and a half away to its return, some pretty exciting spoilers have already surfaced online that makes the waiting game a little too painful. Recent news point to a new location plus more on Rick Castle's memory loss.

TVLine ran a story titled "Castle' Mystery Twist: Is Rick's Missing Time Actually Connected to Kate?" earlier this month and it explored the possibility that the police procedural drama still has something up its sleeves when it comes to Rick Castle's (Nathan Fillion) disappearance and memory loss.

While the show already dished out an explanation in season 7, it was not a satisfying one for the fans, who think there's more to it than just the Bilal situation. Turns out, the fans were right.

While the ABC show has not had much time to explore this particular story arc during the first part of season 8 (which was heavy on the LokSat case), it looks like it will finally have time to do so in its return this February. Showrunner Alexi Hawley told the online publication that it will be covering as much about the topic.

However, fans should not get their hopes up as the story is still being ironed out. But Hawley promises it will be aired during the "middle third" of season 8.

"We haven't nailed the story down for it but we do like the idea that something that Castle came across during his missing time is actually why his memory was wiped — and it wasn't necessarily about the reason we showed in Season 7. And it does have something to do with Beckett. But we haven't nailed it all the way down yet," Hawley explains.

While that particular story arc has yet to pin an episode number, here's a definite for episode 14: Rick, Alexis (Molly Quinn), and Hayley Shipton (Toks Olagundoye) will be leaving New York for the said episode and heading to Los Angeles for an NYPD-related murder case.

Watch all of these new developments unfold when "Castle" season 8 returns to ABC on Feb. 1, 2016.
