'Castle' season 8 spoilers: Did the Antichrist curse Castle?

 ABC

Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) deal with a case that involves the supernatural in the next episode of "Castle" season 8.

In the trailer for the upcoming episode, titled "Hell to Pay," Castle seems to be followed by a series of bad luck while he and his wife Beckett look into the death of the runaway psychiatric inmate who was found lifeless in Castle's office.

Based on the clip, Castle will be constantly on the edge as he experiences several misfortunes after the ax-wielding victim passed away in his private investigation office. But instead of feeling bad for her husband, Beckett appears to be having fun as she continues to mock him because of his cursed situation. However, Ryan (Seamus Dever) and Espo (Jon Huertas) appear to be by Castle's side as he deals with the unfortunate events that are happening in his life.

But despite the seemingly funny situation, the couple will still have to deal with a serious matter as their murder investigation makes them believe that the crime was committed by the Antichrist after Castle found a Bible filled with a lot of demonic art.

According to the official synopsis for the upcoming episode, "When an axe-wielding, escaped psychiatric inmate drops dead in Castle's P.I. office, Castle and Beckett's investigation leads Castle to suspect the victim's death could be the work of the Antichrist."

In other news, TVLine revealed that ABC Studios and Dever just closed a deal for his return for the possible season 9 of "Castle." He will reportedly join Fillion, Huertas, Susan Sullivan (Martha) and Molly Quinn (Alexis) in the upcoming season. This means that only Katic and Tamala Jones (Lanie) will depart from the show after season 8.

The next episode of "Castle" season 8 airs on Monday, May 9, on ABC.
