'Call of Duty 2016' release date, rumors: Upcoming game to be called 'Infinite Warfare,' set for release on November 4

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" will allegedly be a pre-order bonus in "Call of Duty 2016." Steam/Activision

"Call of Duty" fans have several reasons to be happy. First, a reveal date was uncovered. Second the upcoming title was leaked and will be called "Infinite Warfare." Third, the new game will be released by November 4. However, it didn't end there. Along with the date, other information also came along, a re-mastered version of "Modern Warfare" will be included on the Legacy Edition.

A British freelance video game journalist, Jim Sterling, posted on his Twitter account that the title for the "Call of Duty 2016" game will be formally announced on Tuesday, May 3. The accompanying text "The next Call of Duty will apparently get unveiled by next Tuesday. Getting listed in retailers at any rate," was reported by IGN UK.

The following day a Reddit user named Goontmyfries posted the upcoming title for the next game of the franchise. The credibility and the authenticity of the source was never doubted, it was a screen capture of the trending section of the PlayStation Store, where it says "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare." This also seems accidental since no other information came along with it, no content, trailer or preview image, as SlashGear reported.

The title somehow reinforce the previous rumor, that the next battlefield will be in outer space and well beyond the future.

Third, another Reddit user posted a leaked cover image for the upcoming game, which seems to be a pre-order promo for a retailer store, Target. It also contains a few more information, aside from the cover art work, where it says, that the release date for the "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" will be on November 4, the date similar to the previous game releases.

The leaked image is for a Legacy Edition for the upcoming game and allegedly, will include a remastered copy of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare," which was released back in 2007. The remastered edition is a digital download.

It is not known yet if the "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" was developed by Infinity Ward, it does rhyme well, but there are other developer studios that also work with the "Call of Duty" titles. However, fans are more inclined that the upcoming game was developed by the said developer, since it was also responsible for the original version of the remastered game.

Activision, the game publisher, has failed to offer an explanation with regards to these rumors.
