'Call of Duty' 2016 release date update: Activision to unveil new installment at E3 2016

Activision has confirmed that a new "Call of Duty" installment will be unveiled during the Electronic Entertainment Expo this year.

The game publishing company's communications manager Scott Lowe revealed on Activision's official blog that a new installment of the best-selling first-person shooter game developed by Infinity Ward will come out during the annual video game trade show in Los Angeles. The event will run from June 14 to 16.

"In June, we're going to be at E3 showcasing gameplay from Infinity Ward's ambitious new game," Lowe announced.

The community manager also mentioned that they will be working with Sony Computer Entertainment to unveil the new "Call of Duty" since Activision will not have a booth during the trade show.

"We're looking forward to sharing exciting new details about the next great 'Call of Duty' game in partnership with our friends at PlayStation. We're proud to be participating at this premier video game event, but won't have an Activision booth on the show floor," Lowe said.

This makes Activision the second game publisher that confirmed they will have to miss E3 2016. The first one was Electronics Arts.

Infinity Ward is responsible for developing some of the major "Call of Duty" games, including the original game released in 2003, "Call of Duty 2" in 2005, "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" in 2007, "Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2" in 2009, "Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3" in 2011, and 2013's "Call of Duty: Ghosts."

Meanwhile, the latest patch update, 1.07, for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is now live for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

The patch 1.07 update comes with a number of general fixes, including updated visuals for Prestige Kill Counter and Clan Tag. It also has additional gameplay fixes such as the inclusion of the ricochet damage for Care Package owners for the hardcore mode as well as the ricochet damage for players who will plant or defuse bombs in the hardcore mode's Search & Destroy gameplay.
