Jake (Andy Samberg) and Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) will remain in Florida as they continue living under the witness protection program in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4. This means that the precinct will be missing its commanding officer and one of its best men next season.

Speculations claim that Holt will hand over some of his responsibilities to squad supervisor Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews). But knowing that Jeffords normally approaches each task in nervous excitement, it would be more practical for Holt to assign the leadership to another squad member. According to Movie News Guide, the precinct captain could delegate those duties to Jake's partner, Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero).

But could the by-the-book approach of Amy help the squad deal with the cases that will come their way in season 4?

However, Holt may not have to assign someone to take over his job for a long time. When speaking with Yahoo! TV, executive producer Dan Goor said that the captain and Jake's stay in Florida will be temporary.

"We're going to be in Florida for at least a few episodes, but obviously, it's 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' and they're going to end up being put back in Brooklyn," the executive producer said.

Viewers of the show should also look forward to the possible changes in how Jake deals with Holt in the upcoming season since he will no longer be his superior.

"We will see how it turns out, but I'm trying to use this also to sort of change certain dynamics. Like, what happens to Jake and Holt when they're in Florida and Holt is no longer technically Jake's boss?" Goor said.

The executive producer also teased that they will also explore how the squad will function if they are all assigned in the night shift later in the season.

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4 premieres on FOX on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
