Game developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K Games are keeping things tightly wrapped for its "Borderlands 3." However, game fans are already pushing the studios to say something about the upcoming project. It is speculated that the game will arrive around October 2018 and will be set on an alien planet called Promethea.

The Promethea rumor started when the "Battleborn" DLC for the current game was released. The word was found accidentally in the vault icon found in the game. For those who have not found it, the Easter egg is located behind the gates in Attikus and the Thrall Rebellion. It is also a planet where Atlas Corporation found the alien technology that they have studied and reverse-engineered in order to produce state of the art starships and weaponry.

Mikey Newmann of Gearbox Software has hinted before that the game series may receive a new character and could be introduced when the third iteration of the game arrives. It will be the son of Scooter and will be called Scooper. Newman has even created a voice already for Scooper, saying "I did this whole Scooter thing, then I pitch-shifted it up like seven semitones so it sounds like a chipmunk and it was the funniest thing I'd ever heard," Tech Vicity reported.

Additionally, "Borderlands" fans are also wondering about the next villain of the game since Handsome Jack was already killed at "Borderlands 2." He was also killed in the final episode of Telltale's "Tales from the Borderlands." So this is a big suspense for the fans. As for the protagonist, none was hinted, but it could be Rhys, Fiona, Sasha, or August.

It was back in April that fans were able to confirm that "Borderlands 3" will really be happening when the studio announced that they would start working on it later this year. The upcoming game will feature a real open world and will contain a much-evolved game dynamics than its predecessor, IGN added.

In the meantime, fans are speculating that "Borderlands 3" will hit the shelves by 2018, and its release could be either in September or October, like the previous releases.
