Science fiction is a realm that, when created without the correct elements, could make an unsuspecting film an unforgettable laughing stock in the movie industry. That may be the mindset in picking the director and music composer for the sequel no one saw coming, "Blade Runner 2049."

Canadian director Denis Villeneuve will be taking the helm of the creation of the sci-fi film. According to Movie Pilot, Villeneuve may probably be the best candidate in directing the sequel, given his reputation in filmmaking. He is the mastermind behind the movies "Sicario" and "Arrival," both of which have a dark, gritty feel to it which can translate well into "Blade Runner 2049."

Aside from the year where the plot is set, Villeneuve described the weather to be toxic to humans, whether it be rain or snow. How it plays to the advantage or disadvantage of the protagonist remains to be seen, but knowing Villeneuve, it is building up to be an out-of-this-world experience.

In order to make the film even more foreboding, equally hard-hitting music is needed. This is precisely why slating Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson is but a stroke of genius.

Jóhannsson is well known for his no-holds-barred pieces that are as diverse as the films he has worked on. iNews is fortunate enough to get an interview with the musician.

When asked how it was working with Villeneuve in previous projects, he said that it was pleasant, considering he was given a free hand to develop his craft and how he is pretty much involved in the development of the film.

"I usually begin my work in post-production. However, working with Denis I am given creative freedom and am often involved early on in the film's production. I'm given more time to research my project," Jóhannsson explains.

Regarding "Blade Runner 2049," he was already given scenes to work on, which is understandably wrapped in a lot of secrecy. Either way, this much collaboration between Jóhannsson and Villeneuve can only mean great things for the upcoming film.

"Blade 2049" is set to hit the theaters on Oct. 6, 2017.
