Benedict Cumberbatch baby boy news: Welcomes newborn

Benedict Cumberbatch may perhaps be familiar to most as Sherlock and Doctor Strange in the upcoming Marvel film but as far as his private life is concerned, the English actor is now a full-pledged dad.

Known for keeping his personal life separate from his professional career, Cumberbatch and wife Sophie Hunter made the broad announcement on the arrival of a new and healthy boy. The official statement further requests fans to respect the couple's privacy in the next couple of weeks.

Cumberbatch has become a hit with the fans ever since taking on the lead role of Sherlock. He has appeared in several films as well like Star Trek and The Hobbit.

However, his upcoming role in Doctor Strange is expected to boost his popularity even more, a film that will be shown next year, November 4, 2016.

With regards to Sherlock, Cumberbatch has filmed a special episode opposite Martin Freeman which is expected to be shown sometime in December. The episode will reportedly be set in the Victorian setting in the special.

On a side note, one thing fans are asking is on whether the Christmas Special would tackler the Moriarty Mystery. Is Moriarty still alive? Only a few persons know the real score. That includes Cumberbatch, who has apparently avoided baring any details about the said mystery.

As far as other episodes are concerned, filming hasn't started yet and writer/producer reveals that all this will start by the Spring of 2016.

This announcement likewise douses water on early rumors that Sherlock fans would be able to watch the next three episodes after the Christmas special in early 2016.

Moffat gets OBE
Incidentally, Moffat's efforts for Dr. Who and Sherlock somehow paid off after the writer/producer was recently awarded the prestigious OBE for his services to drama.

'I never thought I would get something like this. I'm astonished and more thrilled than I ever thought someone like me would be,' said Moffat according to the BBC.
