'Battlefield 1' release date news: Title to be released this year, leads E3's Game Critics Awards nominees

"Battlefield 1" EA DICE

Fans are hungry for any news on EA DICE's upcoming offering "Battlefield 1," and fans can't get over it when there seems to be a new video clip released after another. Moreover, the upcoming game has the most nominations at E3's Game Critics Awards.

The developer recently released a 15-mninute long Alpha testing gameplay video. Alpha testing is a debugging stage so this is not available to the public but gamers will have an idea what to expect from the game, GameNGuide reported.

"Battlefield 1's" gameplay video features an immersive environment, plus players will also have the chance to commandeer vehicles like tanks, as seen in the video, as well as armored trucks, aircraft, battleships and even horses. It is World War I.

Going to the weapons, there will be automatic and semi-automatic guns. Additionally, there will be a flamethrower and mustard gas. A serrated knife was not yet developed during the period, but shovels and Sabers will do the trick for up-close encounters.

EuroGamer mentioned that EA DICE has also developed a new UI, or user interface, for its games "Battlefield 4," "Battlefield Hardline" and the soon-to-arrive "Battlefield 1." The new system will give its players the ability to switch smoothly in between maps of the three games mentioned.

The developer added, "Now, you're able to create a Squad before you actually enter into a game. Being able to join up with your friends and join into a game together makes it a much smoother experience, and helps make sure you're able to spawn on your buddies as soon as you're in the game."

Meanwhile, the World War I-era shooter has the most nominations at the Game Critics Award. The upcoming game is selected for Best of Show, Best Console Game, Best PC Game, Best Action Game, and Best Online Multiplayer. "Dishonored 2" by Bethesda and "Horizon: Zero Dawn" by Sony got four nominations each, GameSpot stated.

Nominated games were all playable during the presentation at the recently concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016. Games like "Death Stranding," "Destiny: Rise of Iron," "God of War," "Mass Effect: Andromeda," "Prey," and "Spider-Man" for the PS4 were all not playable.

"Battlefield 1" is slated to arrive on Oct. 21 and will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
