The American psychological horror and drama television series "Bates Motel" comes to a conclusion in the final episode and season of the show.
Titled "The Cord," the official synopsis for episode 10 reveals that "Norman Bates comes home." The summary does not say much, which leaves fans guessing on what to expect in the episode finale. Nonetheless, one of the conflicts that needs to be resolved is Romero's (Nestor Carbonell) intent to take revenge for Norma's (Vera Farmiga) death. Will he finally kill Norman (Freddie Highmore)?
In the promotional preview of the episode finale, the clip shows Romero and Norman deep in the woods, with the former violently beating the latter. He also threatens Norman with a gun pointed on his head. It seems that Norman may die, but will Dylan (Max Thieriot) come to his aid?
In an interview with TVLine, executive producer Carlton Cuse hinted that Dylan will continue to be "torn between his wife and his sense of obligation to help fix the Norman problem."
He explained, "The question is can their relationship survive the seismic stress that is the discovery that Norman is this serial killer and responsible for all of these deaths, including Emma's mother."
Meanwhile, the season finale is also expected to deal with Norman being taken over by Norma. In the last few episodes of the show, it seems that the mother has completely taken over his son. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Highmore said that Norma will not give up without putting up a good fight, which is expected to be tackled in episode 10.
Highmore also hinted about the finale. He said, "The last episode could actually be my favorite episode that we've ever done. Everything seemed to click. And it made me laugh out loud."
"It could be the funniest episode that we've ever done at the same time as being the saddest," he added.
"Bates Motel" season 5 airs episode 10 on Monday, April 24, at 10 p.m. EDT on A&E.
