Information on "Avatar 2" has been very scarce, but there are many speculations. It is said that the stars of the original film, Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, will not be making a comeback, while Dr. Grace Augustine, the xenobotanist played by Sigourney Weaver, will be back on the big screen and may potentially be the villain.

It is now rumored that the upcoming sequel of the highly successful "Avatar" movie has had a major casting shake-up. Fans are speculating that Jake and Neytiri, played by Worthington and Saldana, are rumored to be out of the series and will not be playing their characters again. Miles Quaritch, the head of the mining operation's security detail played by Stephen Lang, and Dr. Augustine are said to be on the spotlight, Move News Guide reported.

This rumor came out when director James Cameron mentioned that Quaritch's character would evolve for the upcoming films of the series. Cameron also gave hints about Weaver's character that led fans to speculate that her character will potentially be the villain.

GameNGuide mentioned before that the rumored plot is believed that Quaritch will be leading a group of soldiers and will rescue Jake and Neytiri. Cameron is also believed to be making some big changes in the story, resurrecting Lang's character. The setting will reportedly still be in Pandora but will highlight the underwater world of it. Production of the sequels began in April in New Zealand.

"Avatar 2" was originally set for a 2017 release but was changed to 2018 so that the script could be refined and polish. The production process was also considered, especially the logistics, since four "Avatar" films will be created simultaneously. However, fans believe that the real reason behind the change of date is that it will go head to head with "Star Wars: Episode VIII."

'Avatar 2" is expected to drop in December 2018, while the sequels are planned for 2020, 2022 and 2023.
