A lot of fans are excited about the second season of the anime "Attack on Titan," with rumors pointing out that it will stay faithful to its source material. However, a recent string of rumors claims that it will be the other way around, and these speculations are starting to gain more popularity lately.

According to the Ecumenical News, it is still uncertain whether or not "Attack on Titan" will premiere this year as there is still no definite release date for the anime. However, speculations about how the new season progresses refuse to die out. However, regardless of this, it still seems that the new season will follow the lives of the first season's main cast--Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Levi and their friends.

The twist, however, is that the new season will focus more on the backstory of the Titans as well as the constructions of the walls. After all, the fans of both the original manga series and its anime adaptation never had a definite idea as to how the Titans came to existence and how the walls were constructed. As such, this new season will shed some new light and give meaning to the menace plaguing humanity as well as the walls that supposedly protect them.

Additionally, the Parent Herald reports that in addition to this, the new season of "Attack on Titan" will feature even more Titans, which could be formidable enemies or valuable allies, such as Zeke. Both Zeke and Eren can shapeshift from human to Titan form, but only the former has the ability to think and control himself even while transformed.

Also, some other rumors reveal that it could be possible that a beast Titan will be featured on the second season as well. If that happens, it will be considered as the most powerful Titan to be introduced yet.

The second season of "Attack on Titan" will purportedly air in spring 2017.
