It is widely speculated that the first episode of the season will have the title "Basement," similar to its manga counterpart. This is where Armin, Levi, Sasha, Eren, and Mikasa visited Dr. Yaeager's basement and discovered that life exists beyond the walls that they are protecting.
Prior to this, fans were speculating that the upcoming season will be composed of the "Clash of Titans" and "Uprising" story arcs. The two arcs have more than 50 chapters, which are believed to be enough to cover an entire season. It was previously rumored that the delay in the anime is caused by the lack of story material.
The "Clash of Titans" story arc has been projected to be part of the upcoming season ever since the promotional poster was released. The poster features the Colossal Titan as it attempts to get inside the walled city, while the members of the Survey Corps were getting ready to defend the city. The second story arc to be included reportedly revolves around the Minister Nick's murder and Eren and Historia's attempted abduction.
Other rumors also suggest that more titans could be introduced in the next season, and one of them could look like an ape. The Beast Titan has a strength that is unlike any other, and its introduction would bring another level of excitement to the show. More titans are expected to arrive in the latter part of the season.
Season 2 is also expected dwell more into the secrets and the origin of the Titans inside the walls. Others suggest that it will pick up from where the previous season left off, while some are also suggesting that it will shift away from its manga origins.
