'Attack on Titan' season 2 release date: New season rumored to premiere in February with Beast Titan

While it is said that the new season of the anime adaptation of "Shingeki no Kyojin" is delayed, fans may not have to wait long as season 2 of "Attack on Titan" is rumored to premiere early next year.

According to Gamenguide, the new season is originally scheduled for a late 2016 release but has to be delayed to February 2017 as the team is also busy with other ongoing projects. The same team that works on "Attack on Titan" is also behind the anime adaptation of another manga project, "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress." The industry follower also stated that the creative team is also having a hard time tailoring the script for season 2 without fully copying the entire story. The plot has been slightly deviated in the first season, as there are some subtle differences with the previous story arcs of the original "Shingeki no Kyojin" manga.

Season 2 of "Attack on Titan" is also rumored to be its last. While this is not uncommon for some anime adaptations, clipping the story while the original manga storyline is currently ongoing is a daunting task for the creative team. According to speculations, "Attack on Titan" season 2 will have to get creative for a story finale, up to the point that a main character may perish.

Rumors also suggest that leading to a main character's death, season 2 may finally reveal some new Titans like the hinted Beast Titan in season 1. The previous season also hinted at some of the current Titan's identity, revealing Annie as one, and there are speculations that Reiner, Bertholdt, and Ymir can also transform into Titans.

"Attack on Titan" is the anime adaptation of "Shingeki no Kyojin," where human settlements are encased in colossal walled cities due to the danger of Titans, massive beings who wreak havoc on humanity.
