Gamers who loved Atari can get another chance to play their favorite titles as some of them can now be played on Xbox One via the "Atari Flashback Classics" Volume 1 and Volume 2 game collections.
According to Major Nelson, each volume contains 50 games from the good old days, plus there are social features, global leaderboards, multiplayer modes, among others. More specifically, the games are capable of co-op local, multiplayer online for two players, multiplayer local for two players, and co-op online. The set is said to have an intuitive design that "delivers the responsive feel of the originals on modern controllers."
Among the titles included in "Atari Flashback Classics" Volume 1 are "Centipede," "Combat," "Star Raiders," and "Swordquest," while Volume 2 includes games like "Haunted House," "Major Havoc," "Adventure," and "Asteroids."
The "Centipede" arcade video game was released in 1980. The player needs to shoot and eliminate the centipede that is crawling and winding down the screen before it reaches the bottom of the playing field. "Asteroids," on the other hand, was released on 1979 and is also a shooting game. The player needs to fire at asteroids and flying saucers while trying not to get hit.
These games will not only bring back memories for those who grew up playing them, they will also be a fresh experience for the younger generation of gamers who would like some retro gaming experience. Players can expect the classics to have more modern features using the current generation console.
Each volume in the "Atari Flashback Classics" title is priced at $19.99. The download size for Volume 1 is approximately 404.16 MB while Volume 2's size is around 419.76 MB.
