Rumor mills are starting to churn out information about the so-called Asus ZenFone 3, a follow-up to the Taiwanese company's mega hit smartphone Asus Zenfone 2. The device recently showed itself in a new benchmark test conducted by GFXBench.
The interesting bit is that two versions of the device going by the ZenFone 3 moniker showed up. The first one, which seems to be the larger but lower end version out of the two, goes by the model number Z010DD and comes with a 5.9-inch 720p display.
The benchmark listing shows that this Asus ZenFone 3 variant has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor under its hood. It is also stuffed with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage space. The rear-facing camera is either at 12- or 13-MP while the selfie snapper is at 5-MP.
The second one with the Z012D model number has a 5.5-inch display with a 1080p screen resolution, which means that it will generate a much better display quality compared to its big brother. It has the same RAM and storage combo but it has a Snapdragon 650 chipset humming inside, making it relatively more powerful.
Both Asus ZenFone 3 units have Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board. There's no mention of the battery capacity or any other notable features that pair of smartphones will end up sporting when released.
It is still unclear at this time whether or not these leaked pair of handsets will make up Asus's next flagship lineup in its entirety. In fact, there's no corroboration yet as two whether or not the devices in the benchmark test are actually Asus ZenFone 3 models.
As for the release date of the Asus Zenfone 3, the latest buzz is that the Taiwan-based tech firm will have them ready by May or June. There's still no confirmation from Asus so for now, the tech world will have to wait what the company really has in store for its patrons.
