'Arrow' season 5 spoilers: Oliver recruits Deathstroke in war against Prometheus

Deathstroke's return had caused a stir online when the actor Manu Bennett denied the reports about him resprising his role in the series, despite the showrunners and his co-actors confirming his comeback.

When "Arrow" season 5 returns next week, the hunt for Prometheus aka Adrian Chase (Josh Segarra) continues and Oliver will do whatever it takes and seek help from anyone capable to take down the psychotic villain.

The CW has released the latest promotional video for the remaining episodes of "Arrow" season 5 and it confirms that Bennett is indeed coming back as Deathstroke aka Slade Wilson. At the end of the video, Oliver is seen walking toward the villain's prison cell inside the A.R.G.U.S. facility in the island of Lian Yu, with Deathstroke's mask in his hand. It is said that he will recruit the villain in the war against Prometheus.

The imprisoned villain greets Oliver with a calm, hushed voice, saying, "Hey kid, I'm glad you came back." However, since they have not exactly been on the best terms, fans should expect Oliver to face a bit of challenge to get his former friend on his side of the war.

Even though Bennett's face was not actually seen in the video, ComicBookMovie.com says it's obvious that he's reprising his role based on the voice that was heard.

The two-minute video also showed glimpses of familiar faces who have not appeared in the show for a while, just like Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law) and Malcom Merlin (Josh Barrowman). Nyssa will come face-to-face with her half sister Talia (Lexa Doig), who has aligned herself with Prometheus against the Green Arrow aka Oliver Queen. As with Merlin, what his business in Star City is still unclear for now. Perhaps Oliver recruited him as well out of desperation to take down the enemy.

Katie Cassidy is also back, but now as the villainous Black Siren aka Earth-2 Laurel Lance, who seems to be giving the new Black Canary aka Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy) a hard time. She is also seen chaining up Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne), the father of the original Laurel.

"Arrow" season 5 will return on Wednesday, April 26, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
