"Arrow" season 5 will premiere on Oct. 5, and fans are undoubtedly excited to see its first episode titled "Legacy."

Fans will recall that "Arrow" season 4 concluded with Oliver finally killing Darhk and the city council appointing him as the interim mayor of Star City. In the premiere of season 5, viewers will see the hero trying to balance his job as both the mayor and a vigilante.

Part of the episode's synopsis, as posted on Futon Critic, reads:"After Laurel's (Katie Cassidy) death and the departures of both Diggle (David Ramsey) and Thea (Willa Holland) from Team Arrow, Oliver (Stephen Amell) takes to the streets solo to protect Star City's citizens as the Green Arrow. With Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) guiding him from the bunker, Oliver is forced to deal with a city that has become overrun with both criminals and a slew of new (and painfully inexperienced) vigilantes. Watching Oliver try to balance his jobs as both the mayor and also the protector of Star City, Felicity suggests he form a new team, but Oliver resists."

However, Oliver changes his mind upon the appearance of criminal Tobias Church (guest star Chad L. Coleman) — he comes to the realization that a new team of superheroes is needed. According to TV Line, dirty cops are now within the city's police department and, apart from Church, there is also "an extremely dark archer."

There are also flashbacks to Oliver's time in Russia when he fought with the Russian Bratva and Anatoly Knyazev (David Nykl).

Meanwhile, on Oct. 12, the second episode, titled "The Recruits," will be aired. Here, Green Arrow trains the new recruits namely (Echo Kellum), Wild Dog (guest star Rick Gonzalez) and Evelyn Sharp (guest star Madison McLaughlin), but it seems that they find his training methods a bit difficult. Episode 3 titled "A Matter of Trust," to be aired on Oct. 19, will show how Green Arrow doubts his new teammates' readiness to hit the streets. Wild Dog gets into trouble when he defies Oliver's orders and goes out to face a drug dealer on his own.

Fast forward a few weeks, "Arrow" season 5 episode 8 will be the series' 100th installment, and it will undoubtedly be something special. According to the International Business Times, it will bring back some familiar faces from past seasons, and it will also reportedly feature a four-show crossover, meaning characters from "The Flash," "Supergirl," and "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" will be there.
