iPhone 7 specs leaks: Patent document tips flagship's unique waterproof feature

More leaks support the speculation that the Apple iPhone 7 will be the first waterproof smartphone out of Cupertino. Just recently, a patent filed at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office stated was spotted, hinting Apple's plans to produce "an electronic device with hidden connector."

The patent is about a self-healing elastomeric material that reshapes itself to accommodate a headphone jack and closes up when plugged out. The technology is believed to be seen fully operational in the next generation iPhone.

Not too long ago, it was suggested that the iPhone 7 will be so slim Apple is opting to completely remove the 3.5mm headphone jack for a Lightning connector. This patent could very well play out to what Apple has planned for its next smartphone offering.

This self-healing elastomer will also serve well in Apple's alleged plans to make its next big thing waterproof. Word on the street is that the Cupertino-based company will be using this feature as the handset's selling point.

At the moment though, none of these reports are corroborated. But what's sure is that Apple is going all the way for the iPhone 7, and this could mean doing something it still hasn't done, one of which includes a water-resistant iPhone.

According to some reports, Apple will be using a sturdy new type of chassis to give its offering an impermeable structure. While making sure no water will leak inside the iPhone, Apple will also make it a point to make the device look good and classy.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that the iPhone 7 will come in two versions. The standard unit will get a 4.7-inch display while the so called iPhone 7 Plus variant will get a 5.5-inch screen. It is also being said that Apple is developing the A10 processor for its next flagship.

It is also being said that the device will offer 2 GB of RAM and an ultra-thin build when it releases by September next year.
