iPhone 6c rumors: Apple to release 4-inch smartphone in mid-2016?

Apple is not done with its iPhone "c" lineup and small-sized mobile products altogether, if a new report is any indication. IHS technology research director Kevin Wang claims that a 4-inch device out of Cupertino dubbed as the iPhone 6c is on the way.

Wang says that Apple will be out with the device, which has the same size as the two-year-old iPhone 5s, before September. In fact, he expects the device to be out mid-2016. This smartphone, being small in size, will allegedly house an A9 processor, which it bigger siblings currently have in tow.

Not too long ago, there were reports that suggested the iPhone 7 and not the iPhone 6c is coming earlier than expected. However, Apple Insider points out the new report shows that Apple might actually launch the pair of devices at the same time and before the usual fall schedule too.

The forecast from Wang reflect that of KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who stated that a 4-inch iPhone powered by an A9 chipset will be released in 2016. The expert also said that the small handset will reportedly have metal casing instead of plastic like what the iPhone 5c has.

However, Kuo also believes that Apple will forego some features in the new iPhones for the iPhone 6c like the 3D Touch, which is only exclusive to the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus at this time.

Meanwhile, ever since Apple decided to make its mobile offerings larger than what it always put up, there emerged reports that some users find the newer handsets a bit cumbersome. If a 4-inch iPhone 6c will be released, this would make every iPhone fan happy as they can choose the size they are comfortable with.

According to ZDNet, Apple might as well release to cater to declining iPad sales. The site reasons that for many, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s lines are big enough for them not to get an iPad. With a 4-inch model, Apple can get back on track on the tablet sales too.
