Apple event September 2014: iPhone 6 launch date confirmed but no details revealed

Apple finally confirmed that the company will indeed be hosting an event on Tuesday, Sept. 9. The tech giant recently gave out invitations to the long-rumored press event, which will be held at 10 a.m. at the performing arts center in Cupertino right inside their neighborhood.

The invitation simply read:

9.9.2014

Wish we could say more.

CNet speculated that the rather cryptic invite could be Siri-related. Apple's voice assistant had to face another competitor this year with the introduction of Microsoft's Cortana, so perhaps Siri has something new to offer.

There's also a big chance that the much-anticipated iPhone 6 will be launched during the event because since 2007, the company has a history of launching a new smartphone each year. Word has been going around that one of the most noticeable features of the new iPhone will be its larger screen that is expected to come in two screen sizes: 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches.

Furthermore, there's much anticipation about the iWatch, and it's possible that, if the device does actually exist, it will be introduced on Sept. 9.

Many are looking forward to the products that Apple will introduce this year, just as many are excited to find out what the other companies will put on display in Berlin at the IFA conference. Many big names in technology will be in Germany for that event, and it's expected that wearables will be a big attraction this year.

Incidentally, Motorola will also host its own event five days ahead of Apple, and it's expected that the company will introduce the Moto 360 and the Moto X+1.
