Android 6.0 Marshmallow update: Verizon rolls out software to Samsung Galaxy Note 5; HTC One M8 to get update on March 7

Verizon is now rolling out the much-awaited Android 6.0 Marshmallow to the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

Users of the phablet will finally get to enjoy all the goodies that come with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. One of which is the new Do not Disturb mode, which gives users the power to choose which apps or contacts can send notifications.

There are also amazing battery-saving features such as the Active Display mode, which automatically dims the screen when not in use. There is also a new mode called Doze, which puts the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to a "deep sleep" and turns off the apps in the background.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow also introduces the new Google Now on Tap, which feeds users details of what's on the phablet's screen. A new security system has been activated so users can accept or deny features in an app.

What makes the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update special for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 owners from Verizon is that it enables Wi-Fi Calling for HD Voice users. Live Broadcast also received some Marshmallow love from Verizon.

The Amazon Appstore will no longer be automatically installed as well. Those who have yet to experience all this can manually check the availability of the update by going to the settings of their Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and into the "About phone" pane.

Meanwhile, users of the HTC One M8 from Verizon would also love to know that Android 6.0 Marshmallow will finally be rolled out to the device starting tomorrow, March 7. HTC Vice President Mo Versi made the announcement on Twitter.

That being said, Verizon customers with the HTC One M8 should get ready by cleaning up the storage of their phone and charging it to 100 percent to ensure a smooth installation. A stable Wi-Fi connection is required as well.
