Verizon is bumping up the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The over-the-air update should sweep the units in the U.S. in the days to come.
Along with the latest of the Google software is the April security patch dated April 2, putting the Samsung flagships up to the mark in the security department.
This is an impressive feat for Samsung and Verizon. Being able to tuck in the spanking new update in a short period is something Verizon users will find very useful.
Samsung, just like any other manufacturers, get the security updates 30 days before they are officially released to set it up and prepare it for public consumption.
Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are the first handsets from the South Korea-based tech firm to get the April security update. They seem to be the first ever Android handsets to receive the patch.
That being said, there's a lot to be excited about Verizon's Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow rollout, on top of the improvements that the software brings in.
The update should be dropping on Verizon-branded Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge units soon so users should stand by for the download prompt.
To check the update's availability, users can manually check it by navigating to Settings, then About Device. Go to Software Update then Update Now. If the device is ready, it will show up. All users have to do is download it.
As always, make sure to secure a stable Wi-Fi connection. Charge up the Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge to at least 50 percent so that it stays on all throughout the Marshmallow switch.
Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow comes with bug fixes as well as stability and performance tweaks. The base form of the software introduces Google Now on Tap and a brand new apps permission system.
