Although its successor Galaxy Note 5 has already been released, Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 is still considered to be relatively new. However, it is only now that the phablet is getting Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Indeed, Samsung took a while in bringing the update to all its devices.
According to GSM Arena, the latest version of Lollipop is currently rolling out to the European version of the device, the one that bears the model number SM-N910F. It also seems to be making its way to Sweden, both over the air and via Samsung KIES.
Techno Buffalo has word that users in Poland with the SM-N910C version of the Galaxy Note 4 will be able to upgrade to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop soon as well. Samsung will roll it out to the rest of the regions in Europe when the software is released in Poland without hiccups.
Galaxy Note 4 users won't see interface changes with the update on board, as all that was taken care of by Android 5.0 Lollipop. They, however, will be able to enjoy a much more powerful and efficient handset with the update's promise of improved performance and stability.
Users will also see a significant boost on battery life, and while Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will make the handset much more regimented in memory management (it has a Smart Manager feature that shows the RAM Status and battery), it doesn't bring the long-awaited fix for the notorious StageFright issue.
While Android 5.1.1 Lollipop isn't dropping in one fell swoop, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 users can check the availability of the update by checking it manually in the smartphone's Settings. From there, when the update shows up, they can then jump right into the download.
Users who wish to manually update their devices are cautioned to make sure that the battery has at least 50 percent charge and enough memory to house the software as it is reportedly at 1.8 GB.
