After the success of her war drama Unbroken, Angelina Jolie has edged out the likes of Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, Hillary Clinton and even the Queen as the most admired woman in the world.

A new poll conducted by YouGov revealed that Jolie was the most admired woman in the world. Bill Clinton is the most admired man.

The poll was participated by around 25,000 people from 23 different countries.

Jolie, an actress, director, mother-of-six and UN special envoy was highly revered internationally, but the YouGov study revealed that the British still voted Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as their most admired woman in the world, while Judi Dench followed in second place.

The 39-year-old actress has been involved in war-strife areas since 2001.

Coming in next to Jolie in second place is 17-year-old Pakistani schoolgirl Malala Yousafzai, who survived being shot in the head by the Taliban and won the most recent Nobel Peace Prize for fighting for women's rights to education in her native Swat Valley in Pakistan. She is the youngest Nobel laureate, and has been blogging for the BBC since she was 11.

Number three in the list is Hillary Clinton, the former US Secretary of State, followed by the Queen and US First Lady Michelle Obama. Singer Celine Dion claimed the sixth spot, ahead of Oprah Winfrey at seven and Julia Roberts at eight.

Burmese leader Aung San Suu Kyi came in at nine, while German Chancellor Angela Merkel was tenth most admired globally.

The Daily Mail noted that people regarded celebrities more highly than politicians.

Taylor Swift came in at 11th places followed by Beyonce Knowles, India's Sonia Gandhi, and Jennifer Lawrence.

Kate Middleton is the 15th most admired woman in the world but the British placed her in sixth place. Her husband Prince William was named the fifth most admired man in the world, while his brother Harry came in at eighth. The British distinguished Stephen Hawking in the top spot.
