Acer returns with its introduction of a new notebook just months after unveiling Aspire R11 Windows.

The new notebook, Chromebook R11, is a convertible device that bears almost the same design as Aspire R11, except that it runs on Chrome operating system (OS) by Google — the first from the company.

As with other convertible notebooks from popular brands like Asus, the upcoming device is designed to cater to different purposes.

The device has an 11-inch HD display with a 1366 x 768 screen resolution; it also has an aluminum frame on top.

The display specs are decent enough for a laptop used for school and business purposes.

Its thickness measures 19.22 mm and the notebook weighs about 1.25 kg. One major drawback about the convertible notebook is its weight, which will make it difficult for a person to hold the device with just one hand as a tablet, as noted in PC Advisor.

However, its slim design makes it easy to place inside a schoolbag, which is why it can be perfect for students.

On the inside, Chromebook R11 runs on an Intel Celeron chipset and has a 4 GB RAM. These specs are just enough for an efficient web browsing as well as doing work on online documents.

PC Advisor also noted that the laptop is not appropriate for those who wish to install software programs that use up so much running power on the device.

For the storage, Chromebook R11 is capable of handling 16 GB or 32 GB storage capacity, two of its variants.

The storage capacity may not offer much but as highlighted, the device is most appropriate for those who primarily like to take their work online and store files over cloud storage.

Meanwhile, the Chromebook R11 can be played around to get four modes of usage. Apart from using it as a traditional laptop, it offers a Display mode, perfect for gaming and viewing, which allows users to hide the keyboard.

A Tent mode allows usage of device in cramped spaces such as in planes or trains; and then there's the Pad mode, geared for surfing and playing games.

Acer Chromebook R11 hits North America in October at a starting price of $299 and Europe, the Middle East and Africa by November at a starting price of €299.
