7 Bible verses to claim in times of great conflict

Our newspapers have been filled with horrendous news for the past decade. Stories and reports of war, terrorist attacks and acts of violence toward fellow men. As all of these happen, how can we be assured that God's hand is mighty to save?

You've probably already heard about the attack ISIS staged in Brussels when two bombers set explosives in high-population areas. As that story filled the headlines, people started rising in fear and anger, not just toward people but also toward God.

Can we really be assured that God saves and God protects when people are dying in the hands of terrorists? While evil does continue to ravage in the world, we can be assured that God can save and has saved.

Safety from terrorists is the least of our worries. God has saved us from something far greater than physical death -- spiritual death and separation from Him. Jesus has conquered sin and death itself, and it will only be a matter of time until He conquers all who bring violence to the world. Maybe not right away, but in His perfect timing He will.

Here are seven Bible verses that assure us the victory that we have in Christ Jesus even in times of great conflict.

John 16:33. "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."

Psalm 76:6. "At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both rider and horse lay stunned."

Exodus 3:8. "And I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites."

Joshua 1:9. "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

Psalm 22:20-21. "Deliver my soul from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dog! Save me from the mouth of the lion! You have rescued me from the horns of the wild oxen."

Jeremiah 1:8. "Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord."

Galatians 1:3-4. "Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen."
