Diana Prince will be back to save the world once more in "Wonder Woman 2" and this time, it could be from her longtime DC comics nemesis, Cheetah.

Cheetah, for those unfamiliar, is originally known as Dr. Barbara Ann Minerva. She is an archaeologist working with Diana at a French museum, who is cursed with superhuman strength, speed, appearance, and hunger of a cheetah after stumbling upon an ancient ritual in the lost city of Urzkartaga. Cheetah is said to be Diana's greatest and most iconic enemy in the graphic novels much like Lex Luthor to Superman and the Joker to Batman.

Many fans have called for her character to appear in the sequel. Now, That Hashtag Show is reporting that she may indeed grace the film as the primary villain. There have been talks that the role of the feline antagonist was offered to "La La Land" star Emma Stone. Unfortunately, she has reportedly turned out the offer.

At this point, there is no actress attached to the role yet but that does not mean there is not any who wants to take on the role of Cheetah. Sarah Paulson of "American Horror Story," for one, voiced interest in portraying the "Wonder Woman" villain last December. Whether she ultimately gets the role or not remains to be seen. Regardless, fans will not likely find out until at least the sequel starts filming.

According to DC producer Charles Roven, they are currently in the development of the "Wonder Woman 2" screenplay. He told Comic Book recently that they are also "just moving out of what normally we would call soft prep into hard prep." Assuming everything goes smoothly, they plan to enter production sometime this summer for its November 21, 2019, release.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, "Wonder Woman 2" will see Gal Gadot's return as the titular heroine as she moves agelessly into the 1980s, taking on bad guys with the Soviet Union as the backdrop this time around. Chris Pine is said to be reprising his role of Steve Trevor as well, despite his on-screen death in the first film.
