"Transformers 4" received some good reviews, particularly with Mark Wahlberg taking the lead. Many hoped that the next movie will still include him as the lead star. However, things may turn out differently now that director Michael Bay has made a decision.
Bay has decided to exit the "Transformers" movie franchise. For Bay, it's time for him to go and pass the director's chair to someone else. He will now be working on his documentaries.
"There's kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make. I have a lot of stories to tell. And it's about flexing new muscles," Bay told USA Today. He also said that he is busy working on an elephant documentary right now.
While the 49-year old award-winning director is sticking to his decision, there's a rumor that Wahlberg may be exiting the film as well, with Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox returning to the movie franchise and reprising their roles.
In an interview with Movie Pilot, Fox shared, "I'm not sure if I'll return. As long as things are good between everyone and Shia returns with me I'd like to see us partner up with a new cast like a crossover."
As for LaBeouf, his answer showed uncertainty if he would actually return to making a "Transformers" movie once again.
"It would be good to do another film but I doubt with the new changes since the third film that Megan could return you know, it might be a love war if me or Rosie both return you know it's not that I don't think about it. But no, I highly doubt if I'll be back for another one. I'll do another Michael Bay film but not Transformers," LaBeouf said.
Paramount Pictures has already announced the release date for "Transformers 5." It will hit theaters on June 24, 2016. The production outfit has to make a very smart move with the next film, considering how successful "Age of Extinction" was.
