Fans have been ardently waiting for the follow-up to "The Incredibles," which was released more than a decade ago (that's a long time). Many were on tenterhooks (and still are) for "The Incredibles 2" just to see what the lovable superhero family is up to now, hoping that Disney will continue the adventures of the odd and endearing mix. Thanks to Disney CEO Robert Iger, "The Incredibles 2" is finally a go.

However, there is not much noise about the sequel so the plotline remains to be seen. Director Brad Bird is once again helming and writing "The Incredibles 2" but that seems to be the only information that is solid about the project. Reports are also saying that Bird might even scrap the whole thing if there won't be a good story for it.

The cast is also one big mystery, although last year, "The Avengers" actor Samuel Jackson teased that Mr. Incredible's long time pal and ice-summoning superhero Frozone will return in the upcoming film and Bird himself was the one who always told him. There are also speculations about the identity of the next villain that Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, The Dash, Violet and Jack-Jack will tackle this time.

Syndrome, although certainly seething with vengeance, may not be able to return after the dangerously inescapable explosion that killed him in the first film. The Underminer is also unlikely to make a comeback as his attacks in the first film were only ploys for him to get attention, which he certainly got from the police. He is expected to remain behind bars and probably break out from prison once in a while — and just that.

That leaves guessing fans with Simon J. Paladino a.k.a. Gazerbeam. The hero was strongly against the superhero ban in "The Incredibles" and he advocated that the act be revoked. He also seems to be a good friend of Mr. and Mrs. Incredible as he was one of their guests during their wedding. The energy-blasting superhero was killed as he penetrated Syndrome's database to foil his plans. Media outlets surmise that Gazerbeam's family, which should be superheroes as well, will be back vindictive and thirsty for justice.

According to Crossmap, the crimefighting clan will be back in "The Incredibles 2" in early 2016.
