Cole (Joshua Jackson) must decide whether he wants to stay with Alison (Ruth Wilson) in the upcoming season of "The Affair."

According to spoiler reports, Alison might finally get what she wants and be with Cole again. Viewers have seen Alison's tumultuous journey since the show's debut — from leaving her husband for another man, and then coming back to beg Cole for a second chance.

The previous installment saw Alison stay with Cole as she tried to win his affection back. Determined to make their family whole again, Alison decided to leave Noah (Dominic West) for good despite his efforts to change her mind. It is believed that it will not be long before Cole and Alison patch things up and have their happy ending with their beloved daughter, Joanie (Savannah Grella).

In a press junket for CBS Studios International last year, Jackson opened up about how his character may reunite with his ex-wife soon. Given their long history together, it will not be much of a surprise if they decide to give their relationship another try. "They [Cole and Alison] have this enormous lengthy shared history together . . . And after a lifetime of togetherness, particularly for him, he just didn't know any other way," the actor revealed.

Meanwhile, Wilson previously said in a 2016 interview that a lot of things had changed since Joanie arrived in Alison's life. She said Joanie could significantly help heal the wounds from Cole and Alison's relationship. At the time, Wilson said the birth of Joanie was probably a sign that the former couple will find their way back to each other soon.

"She's been in a place where she's just needed to find who she is, really," Wilson stated, "and redefine or find herself. Perhaps it's that home is familiar to her. The fact that [she and Cole] had another child together is something like fate; it suggests that perhaps, they were meant to be, and they needed that fission to come back stronger. I don't know, but maybe."

The fourth season of "The Affair" is expected to premiere this fall on Showtime.
