'Rick and Morty' season 3 episode 2 release date, plot rumors: Episode 2 a play on 1984 film, 'Romancing the Stone'

Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon's adult animated sci-fi sitcom "Rick and Morty" finally aired the first episode of season 3. No one expected the season premiere to air on April Fools' Day, unfortunately, and fans have to wait a few more months for the rest of the season.

For months, the creators have been swamped with inquiries about the release date. And to everyone's surprise, the first episode of the season, titled "The Rickshank Rickdemption," launched on an unexpected day, April Fools'. However, the launching of the premiere episode may have only been a strategy to appease anxious fans.

According to the official "Rick and Morty" Twitter page, season 3 will continue in the summer. They wrote, "Rick is free, but he won't be going on more adventures until this summer. A pickle will rise..."

"Rick and Morty" season 3 episode 2 is titled "Rickmancing the Stone." Little is known about the episode's exact release, but if the creators stay true to their word, fans can expect to see the third season this summer. The latest season in "Rick and Morty" comes with 14 episodes.

Reports say that the second episode will be a play on another film, like the pilot episode. To note, "The Rickshank Rickdemption," which was about Rick's escape from the intergalactic prison, was a play on "The Shawshank Redemption." The second episode will be their take on the 1984 movie, "Romancing the Stone." The episode features a search mission for a sister and an important gem.

Elsewhere this season, viewers can expect to see a scene wherein Rick gets wasted. A featurette of the episode shows Roiland taking in a few shots before stepping into the recording booth. His co-creator, Harmon, challenges him to do method acting; thus, the shots.

More updates should arrive soon.
