NBA Rumors: Scott Brooks's fate hangs in the balance at OKC Thunder

Could it be the end of the road for Scott Brooks as far as being the head coach of Oklahoma City Thunder is concerned?

Brooks' contract with Thunder is now hanging in the balance and reports are coming in that the Thunder will be evaluating him and decide on whether to bring him back or not for the final year of his contract.

It hasn't exactly been a fruitful year for Brooks as he tried to deal with an injury-plagued roster this past NBA season. Kevin Durant was a prime absentee and was virtually out of action thanks to injuries.

Westbrook was however around for most part of the year but try as he may, Westbrook simply couldn't carry the load for the Thunder without his buddy Durant.

Brooks' finest moment came in the 2011-2012 season when the Thunder were able to make it as far as the NBA Finals against the eventual champions, the Miami Heat. Brooks inherited the head coaching job way back in the 2008-2009 season and is best known for leading the Thunder to four consecutive NBA Western Conference titles. He was also the NBA coach of the year in 2010.

Should the Thunder opt to relieve Brooks, a prime candidate to take his place could be in the person of University of Florida coach Billy Donovan.

Donovan is a hot name to fill in one of the many coaching vacancies in the NBA next season but it is his relationship with general manager Sam Presti which could instill him as the next OKC Thunder coach if ever Brooks would be given the pink slip.

For now, everything hangs in the balance and the Thunder are pressed for time to make a decision. Will they stick with Brooks or go in a different direction?
