It has only been a couple of weeks since the fifth season of "Longmire" was available for streaming on Netflix, but there are already discussions about season 6.
Fans are already rallying to make sure that a "Longmire" season 6 will push through. The show's official fansite, Longmire, Posse keeps the RenewLongmireNetflix hashtag alive to show that they want more of Walt (Robert Taylor) and company.
The fans are invited to participate in a "Stampede," a movement for the renewal of the series. However, at the moment, Netflix is mum about the odds of "Longmire" season 6.
According to reports, there is a great possibility that the show will be renewed, seeing that the fifth season ended with a cliffhanger involving Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Phillips) and established a plot direction that will be remiss not to tackle.
It is expected that "Longmire" season 6 will see Vic (Katee Sackhoff) and Walt finally acknowledging the possibility of them becoming a couple. Needless to say, the road to that will not be smooth seeing that the show left off with Vic's pregnancy becoming a potential hurdle in that romance.
In the "Longmire" books by Craig Johnson where the show is based, Vic and Walt end up together. However, the show is known for diverting from the source material.
This suggests that the fate of the character might be different from their counterparts in the novel. Johnson knows that very well, although he is happy how the writers are handling the adaptation.
"The only way I can describe it is, it's like having a houseplant for seven or eight years, and you come downstairs one morning and have it start talking to you. It's wonderful, but still kind of weird," the bestselling author told Las Vegas Review Journal.
Netflix waited almost two months after the release of season 4 to renew the show for season 5, so a "Longmire" season 6 announcement might not happen until next month.
