Will the new iPod Touch 6th Gen look like this?Apple.com

This year's annual Worldwide Developers Conference by Apple has come and gone, and fans waiting for details regarding its mobile devices were disappointed that the company has instead focused on the upcoming iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan.

Although no details were mentioned in the conference, there are still reports surfacing that new Apple devices will come out in the latter part of the year. One of the speculations suggest that aside from a new iPad mini and the rumored iPad Pro coming out before the holidays, a new updated version of the much-loved iPod touch will also be released.

The last generation of Apple's media player was released way back 2012, and with the rise of current-gen smartphones getting high-end specs and a host of apps that could give the fifth-generation iPod touch a run for its money, many tech fans scoff at the idea of the media player making a comeback.

However, loyal fans of one of Apple's most iconic products stress that with the emergence of Apple proprietary tech, a 2015 version of the iPod touch may be packed with features that would make it compete with the best smartphones and media players.

Rumors suggest that the new iPod touch will come with a Touch ID fingerprint sensor and will also be equipped with a more dynamic version of Siri, Apple's proprietary digital assistant. Moreover, as with any device targeted at users with active lifestyles, the sixth-generation iPod touch will sport an IP 6X rating, making it water- and dust-proof. It will also have an 8 MP main shooter at the rear and a 1.5 MP front camera.

To give Apple fans a variety of choices, it is speculated that there will be two versions of the iPod touch: the smaller 4.7-inch version, and a slightly larger one with a 5.5-inch screen. In addition, the new media player is said also come in a wide range of colors.
