HTC Aero (A9) release date, specifications, features: Leaked photo shows device looking like an iPhone 6 clone

The purported HTC Aero, also dubbed as the HTC A9, showed up in a new live image but could be mistaken for an Apple device if it wasn't for the Taiwanese company's logo. The smartphone in the photo fully takes after the iPhone 6 down to the respective strips on the top and bottom portions on the rear.

The leaked photo shows the handsets next to each other for better view of the similarities and slight differences. The one said to be the HTC Aero looks relatively larger, and apart from the Taiwan-based company's emblem on the back of the device, the only aspect that would help tell them apart is the primary camera's location.

Apple has the rear-facing shooter of the iPhone 6 on the top far left corner of the device. However, when the HTC device is flipped to the front, things reportedly begin to look different.

However, some media outlets question the authenticity of the photo since HTC has gone over the top in making the HTC Aero almost look like an iPhone 6 clone. That said, users should take this leak with a pinch of salt.

The HTC Aero is projected by rumor mills as a powerful device, starting off with the reported utilization of the high-grade deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor. While reports are one in saying it will get a Quad HD display, the screen size tells a different story. Some say that the HTC A9 will either be at 5.2 inches or 5.5 inches. The device will allegedly pack 4 GB of RAM and a 3500 mAh battery. There's word these specs and features will be packaged in an all-metal chassis with 2.5D glass as seen in the photo.

HTC Aero is expected to be unveiled in October. By November, GSM Arena says that it should at least be offered by U.S. carriers Sprint and AT&T.
