'God of War' news: Kratos and Atreus to arrive at PS4 consoles on Apr. 20

It is official -- the action adventure video game "God of War" will launch on Apr. 20 for the PlayStation 4. Sony released a new trailer for the title and the 3-minute video ended with the game's official release date.

The game's Director Cory Barlog made the release date announcement via PlayStation's blog. The update was accompanied by a new trailer providing details about the game's main storyline. Sony and Santa Monica Studio teased gamers with an epic trailer about the struggles of god-slayer Kratos, concerning his son Atreus who is not aware of his or his father's true identity as god. It was revealed that Kratos has not informed his son about his deity status. Gamers also got a glimpse of Atreus slowly grasping his true nature as a god.

The trailer also shows Kratos and Atreus mourning for the death of the light of their household. Kratos together with his son set out on an adventure to fulfill his wife's dying wish. Upon their journey, the father-and-son duo meets new people, creatures, monsters, and gods including the knowledgeable Mimir.

Barlog also gave an early treat for people who pre-ordered the game ahead its release. Three legendary shield skins will be distributed to all gamers who pre-ordered the title from supporting retailers. People who ordered from GameStop or EB Games will receive the Luck of Ages XP Talisman to boost XP gain, hacksilver gain, and ability to triggers perks.

There are three editions available for pre-order, the Collector's Edition, the Stone Mason Edition, and the Digital Deluxe Edition.

The Collector's and Stone Mason editions were both widely well received because of the 9'' statue of Kratos and Atreus included.

"God of War" is one of the most-anticipated video game releases of 2018. The title will only be available for the PlayStation 4 console.
