Fans might perhaps be a bit perplexed when a different voice answers the infamous question: Who are you gonna call?
Veering away from the usual testosterone-filled film, Ghostbusters 3 is rumored to feature a possible female-dominated cast.
These speculations surfaced when Paul Feig, the director of the blockbuster film "Bridesmaid", was seen meeting with Sony Pictures. Fans believe that this meeting might be in connection with the purported reboot of the "Ghostbusters" franchise.
In Feig's version, however, all the main characters of the American supernatural comedy film will be female.
As refreshing as this may appear to some followers of the old cult classic, other fans against the concept might still have a chance to voice out their objections. Despite allegedly meeting with the producing studio a couple of times, a formal agreement is yet to be signed by all the parties concerned.
Moreover, reports reveal that "Ghostbusters 3" will not take after the two previous movies.
Sources disclosed that Etan Cohen was invited in 2012 to take charge of redrafting the script for the latest installment of the franchise.
Cohen, who was the screenwriter for "Men in Black 3", revised an initial script created by writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky from the hit sitcom "The Office". The initial script was said to have been completed in 2008.
Ivan Reitman, the director of the first two Ghostbusters films, was originally decided to direct this third movie. Reitman was said to have dropped out of the project around March this year due to undisclosed reasons.
No list for the cast of this new movie has been released. However, fans are speculating that actresses to be chosen will be those known in the comedy genre. In this case, Feig is believed to be the most suitable director for the film.
