'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2' release date news: Sequel coming to Japan in December
Publisher Bandai Namco has revealed that a sequel to the highly successful "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" is coming out soon. "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" is set to arrive in Japan this winter. Meanwhile, similar to the original game, it is expected that the sequel will also have a global release.
According to Anime News Network, it is confirmed that "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will ship out in December this year and will be released for the PlayStation 4 in Japan in the holidays. This is much like how the first game was released last year, so it is expected that a global release will follow by either the end of December or immediately after the New Year.
The original "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" title debuted on Feb. 5, 2015 in Japan, and then it rolled out on Feb. 24 in the U.S. and Feb. 27 in Europe.
Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that "Dragonball Xenoverse 2" will only be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. When the first "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" came out, it was also released for older-gen consoles like the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
While Bandai Namco has yet to provide details on the game other than its release schedule, it is expected that "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will have the same gameplay, mechanics, and design as the first one, given that the same studio – Dimps – is working on it. However, Engadget is certain that there will be new content in the sequel like a new city hub, additional characters, and wider customization options. Nonetheless, "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will still have players act as Time Patrollers and try to keep the original "Dragon Ball" history intact by going on different offline and online missions.
