When Billy Graham cited proof of Jesus Christ's existence to those who still have doubts

Some people still question the existence of Jesus Christ. However, late American evangelist Billy Graham tried to make sure that no-one would be in any doubt that the Saviour exists.

"I don't know of a single scholar — Christian or non-Christian — who claims that Jesus Christ never existed. The evidence for His existence is so overwhelming that even scholars who totally reject the Christian faith still acknowledge that Jesus lived and taught some 2,000 years ago," he wrote in an article for The Kansas City Star.

But for those who still harbour doubts in their hearts, Graham offered more proof that Jesus existed. "First of all, each of the four Gospels of the New Testament gives us a detailed account of Jesus' life and ministry. When they were written, thousands of eyewitnesses to his ministry were still alive, and it would have been impossible for their writers to lie about his existence," he said.

Luke 1:2 says this about Jesus' ministry: "They were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses."

Moreover, Graham argued Jesus' followers would not willingly die for "what they know is a lie."

According to him, "Jesus' followers courageously faced persecution and death because they were convinced he was the saviour of the world."

Graham wondered why so many people insist on ignoring Jesus' presence in their lives. He suspected that some are simply afraid of changing their sinful ways in order to live life according to God's standards.

"Don't deceive yourself, and don't base your life on a lie," he urged. "Instead, examine the Gospels with an open heart and mind. When you do, you'll discover why He alone is 'the way and the truth and the life' (John 14:6)."
