Another Missionary Killed in Uganda

Another missionary has been killed after two missionaries and one student were found killed in early this month in Uganda.

Comboni missionary Father Luciano Fulvi, who was an 76-years-old Italian, was found dead in his room in the Layibi mission, outside Gulu.

It is not clear who killed him or why, but according to the Missionary News Service Agency (Misna), it is believed that robbers have attacked the missionary.

People from the surrounding area often seek refuge in the mission at night, fearing attacks by the rebel Lord's Resistance Army.

The group which has been trying to overthrow the government for 18 years and operates mostly in the north of the country.

Father Fulvi was from the Italian diocese of Pescia, in the province of Lucca.

Misna said that a fellow priest at the mission noticed the Father Fulvi's door was open after he went to bed on Tuesday night. The colleague called out to him, but getting no response thought he was asleep and shut the door. It was only after Father Fulvi missed morning mass and his car and bicycle had not been used that his colleagues went to his room and found him lying in a pool of blood.
