5 Bible verses to make your house feel like a home

Our homes are much more than physical structures; they're places where we feel safe, a step back from the outside world and where we're most comfortable in our own skin.

We invest so much in them over the years in terms of our time—cosying up in them during the cold and hosting friends and family during the holidays—and our money—paying the rent or the mortgage, and shelling out for essential maintenance and optional interior design.

So it's no wonder that we become increasingly attached to them over time and make extra effort to have them reflect who we are.

The inspiration behind the decor of our homes can usually be traced back to our individual tastes—what colours we like, what design elements and floor plan we prefer, and how we function on a day-to-day basis.

But when it comes to your faith, does your home reveal what is in your heart?

Displaying Bible verses in rooms and in hallways means that you and your family will always be surrounded by visible excerpts of God's Word in the place where you're most likely to often meet with Him one-on-one. And any visitors will be welcomed by them, too.

About to move house and looking for a quick, easy and effective way to make your new place feel like home? Desperate to add a spiritual touch to your current abode? Whatever your situation, these five Bible verses are sure to warm your heart and your home. You can hang them up all over your home as prints, embroidered wall hangings, or you can get the kids involved and create a collage.

Joshua 24:15 — "But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."

Proverbs 24:3-4 — "By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.

Ephesians 4:2-5 — "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."

Zephaniah 3:17 — "The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing."

Isaiah 55:12 — "You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands."
