Players who have been eagerly anticipating the release of "Tom Clancy's The Division" were disappointed when the game did not come out last year, so fans are hoping that the game would finally come out this year. However, some remain skeptical that the game will see the light of day in 2015.

Game developer Ubisoft has always been transparent about the development of the game after it was announced during the E3 2013 press conference, but the setbacks continued to happen in the game's development since.

In May last year, a source told GameReactor that the development team was having a hard time executing several ideas that were meant for the game, and it was not fully functional at that time.

"We've been given increased resources, we're hiring lots at the moment and are given a lot of help from other Ubisoft teams which is going to be needed if we are to deliver a finished game by next fall," the source said. "Sadly, I still think that the date is a tad bit optimistic as we still don't have a functioning game and still have massive problems making our multiplayer component work at the concept stage."

Although GameReactor's source wasn't confident that the game would be ready by fall of 2015, the interview happened more than eight months ago, and it can be surmised that a lot has already happened in the development of the game since then. Furthermore, Ubisoft Canada's post in Facebook on Jan. 19 gives avid fans a glimmer of hope.

The post reads: "We've got two Clancy games coming this year... Which one are YOU most excited for? Rainbow Six Siege or The Division?"

"Tom Clancy's The Division" is considered to be one of the most ambitious games ever produced. Ubisoft was inspired by real-world events called Operation Dark Winter and Directive 51, showing how the U.S. can be vulnerable in modern times. The game's plot revolves around a disease that quickly spreads one Black Friday, making most operations in the U.S. collapse in just five days.

The action role playing game is meant to be released on eighth-generation gaming platforms, including the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
