"The Surge" is finally getting a sequel and a release date. The second installment is expected to arrive in 2019, but although there are not many details revealed about it, players can expect a lot of new changes to the gameplay.

2018 already has an impressive list of games coming up within the year for almost every console. 2019 seems to be having its own exciting list as well, and one of the games in the lineup is the sci-fi action, role-playing game "The Surge 2." Although the original title had some previous issues, they are expected to have been solved in the sequel.

Those who have played the famous "Dark Souls" series are bound to at least get interested in "The Surge 2" since the former is, after all, the inspiration for the original "The Surge" and its upcoming second installment. Players will have to go against robotic or humanoid enemies with high-tech exoskeletons. The announcement of the game also came with news of developer Deck13 and publisher Focus Home Interactive renewing their partnership.

With those two on-board, fans of the original game can at least be more assured that this second game will be, if not more, successful as the first one. There are a lot of new abilities, weapons, implants, drones and more to be added to the game, details of which should come in the few days after Focus Home Interactive's press event in France, as reported by Polygon.

All those new additions can be credited to the updated engine that Deck13 maximized. Arguably one of the best features, the limb-targeting system, will also get some new additions and modifications. For those who are new to the game, players get to target specific parts of enemies so that they can add more components to their own exoskeleton.

Since the news of a sequel to "The Surge" is relatively new, there is not a lot of information available for fans. Deck13 did make some promises and, fans are hoping the company will deliver on those promises. Coming from a really good game, "The Surge 2" unsurprisingly comes with a lot of expectations.

Although no specific date was mentioned, "The Surge 2" will be released for the PC, PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One. News about a Nintendo Switch version has yet to surface.
