'The Incredibles 2' release date, plot: Dash and Jack-Jack rivalry may be a plot focus

As previously reported, "The Incredibles 2" will focus on a story that was teased in the first film. Many fans speculate that this is a hint that the sequel will focus primarily on Jack-Jack and his new powers, but according to the Ecumenical News, it may also see Jack-Jack using these powers against his own family, particularly his brother Dash.

Previous rumors suggested that Syndrome, the villain from the first film, may have somehow survived his cape-accident that threw him straight into an airplane's engine. The rumors continue to state that he may be responsible for turning Jack-Jack into a villain given that Jack-Jack is the youngest and easiest to manipulate.

However, the report suggests that instead of Jack-Jack it would be Dash, who already showed signs of being more rash and violent in the first movie, that turns to the dark side and betray his family. Many fans speculate that Dash may get jealous when the family praises Jack-Jack more due to his unique special powers.

If the rumors prove true then "The Incredibles 2" would focus on Jack-Jack and Dash going up against each other to settle the family feud. This would not only continue the first movie's theme of family values but also continue on showcasing their powers without melting into the cliches and conventions of comic book movies.

This does not immediately mean a proper villain will not be in the movie but it is still indicated that a good portion of the film will focus first on Jack-Jack and Dash.

However, it is important to note that Pixar and Disney have yet to confirm any of the ongoing plot rumors and the aforementioned rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. Director Brad Bird is still working on the film's script and changes to the story are likely to take place.

"The Incredibles 2" is scheduled to release in June 2019.
