'Tekken 7' release date rumors: Arcade game coming to consoles in 2016?

"Tekken 7" Bandai Namco

"Tekken" has been a familiar brand in the world of arcade games, but the hit game franchise has not made its way to home consoles and fans are wondering when this will happen.

But a report from Koi Nya via iDigitalTimes may have just given hope to Xbox One and PlayStation (PS4) owners.

The report claimed that "Tekken 7" will be arriving to the aforementioned consoles by 2016. The release date was given away by Bandai Namco Entertainment Spain Marketing Manager David Fraile during the Madrid Games Week (MGW) early this month.

Following Koi-Nya's report, several websites have taken the news that "Tekken 7" will be arriving to consoles next year.

But the site has since updated the story after Fraile contacted the news outlet to make some clarifications on his statement.

According to Bandai Namco Iberica, there are several plans for the game, and Fraile's MGW statement meant that the team is working on introducing the game to big Spanish cities like Barcelona and Madrid.

Adding to this is Bandai Namco America's statement given to iDigitalTimes, which stated that although it's great news that the arcade game has been received very well, the company cannot make any comment on the rumors about "Tekken 7" arriving to consoles.

Apart from the release date, new rumors also stated that Jun Kazama and Eliza will be added to the playable lineup.

It has not been confirmed, but the vampire Eliza could be a great addition to the game.

As for Jin's mother, Jun, game creator Katsuhiro Harada revealed in Twitter that the character is not really dead in the "Tekken" story but is only missing, Yibada reported.

Without a doubt, "Tekken 7" is one of the most popular arcade games in the gaming community.

With rumors about the console release, hardcore gamers will only have to hope that one day soon, they'll experience the game in Xbox One and PS4.
