'Suicide Squad' spoilers: Final trailer hints at Amanda Waller's dark side

The final trailer for "Suicide Squad" was released during this year's San Diego Comic-Con, and while it is shorter than previous promos, it does showcase just how far Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) could go in order to get things done the way she wants them to.

Previous trailers already hinted at the method of thinking and planning that Waller is willing to go through but as stated in a report from Cinema Blend, this trailer puts a new stamp on it. Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman) goes on to ask her why she is utlizing criminals instead of hardened and trained soldiers.

Waller has made up her mind and the trailer showcases that she is not just using the criminals to give them a chance at redemption. It is hinted she has a more notorious scheme and she may be hiding something that the government normally would not sanction.

"Getting people to act against their own self-interest is what I do for a living," the character explains in the trailer, teasing she can manipulate them in some manner. In previous iterations, such as in the CW series "Arrow," Waller is known for planting bombs in the head or neck of each Suicide Squad member to ensure they follow her orders.

Deadshot (Will Smith) is also heard calling Waller "one mean lady" to which Flagg immediately agrees to. As stated by the report, Deadshot is a known assassin and is one of the deadliest members of the squad yet even he fears the manipulative nature of Amanda Waller.

Cinema Blend also points out that Waller may be getting into the action herself as the actress reportedly revealed she had filmed scenes firing from a machine gun. These scenes might be taking place in the latter half of the film.

"Suicide Squad" opens in theaters on Aug. 5.
