'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' plot point to Finn being Lando Calrissian's son
A "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" jigsaw puzzle was recently listed on Amazon and the product description states that Finn (John Boyega) is actually Lando Calrissian's (Billy Dee Williams) son. However, a report from Making Star Wars debunks the information listed and states that the information is false and should not be immediately believed.
According to the report, there are several signs that show the product's information was mislisted. The first sign is that Lucasfilm Ltd. is spelled wrong as "Lucas Films." It is also pointed out that the product information lists the film's title "Star Wars VII The Force Awakens" instead of its proper title of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
The report also points out that Disney and Lucasfilm have never used "Star Wars VII" in their promotional campaign for the film. Ever since the official title came out, every toy and other form of merchandise have used the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" moniker, without the roman numeral VII.
More importantly, the report points out that it was not Amazon that listed the product as the jigsaw puzzle is being sold by a third-part vendor, P&E Enterprises. P&E Enterprises was responsible for listing down the product information and it is likely that Finn was merely described as Lando's son due to racial similarity instead of factual data.
However, Making Star Wars retains that this does not completely disprove the claim and that there is still the possibility of Finn being related to one of the original characters from the older "Star Wars" trilogy. However, the report cites that the jigsaw puzzle is not a credible enough clue to rely on for this information.
According to a report from Screen Rant, director J.J. Abrams has been accounted for explaining that both Finn and Rey's (Daisy Ridley) last names have been kept from the public for a reason, hinting that their last names will be recognizable to fans and may have big connections to the overall "Star Wars" lore and characters.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will open in theaters on Dec. 18.
