The sci-fi roleplaying game (RPG) "Star Ocean" recently made a comeback with "Star Ocean 4." Titled "Star Ocean: The Last Hope," the game is a prequel to the original "Star Ocean" and is set sometime after World War III.

"Star Ocean: The Last Hope" gives long-time fans a chance to return the very beginning of the series while also introducing new content into the mix. The official synopsis of the game's Steam page reads — "World War III has decimated Earth and now humanity must turn to the stars in search of a new home. Explore the galaxy on your quest, make allies and enemies among the alien races you encounter and uncover a danger so great that it threatens all of creation."

Developed by Square Enix and Tri-Ace, the latest "Star Ocean" game features 4k HD graphics. The game also goes back to its roots with its original real-time-strategy combat.

The game was released on Nov. 29, and since then, it has gained mostly positive reviews from its players. However, a handful were not thrilled with the game's performance.

The PS4 version of the latest "Star Ocean" game also has a few surprises up its sleeves for its fans. Aside from supporting 4K high definition graphics, the PS4 version of "Star Ocean: The Last Hope" gives players the chance to customize the game's graphics as they see fit.

Players who own a PS4 can toggle between 720p and 1080p, while those with PS4 Pro will have the option to toggle between 1140p and 4k. Consoles versions of the game are usually more limited with its graphics options, but "Star Ocean: The Last Hope" does away with the trend. For gamers, the new update brings a lot to the table and expectations are already running high for the game.

"Star Ocean" first came out in 1996 and had come a long way since its first release.
